Gloria Wekker (she/her) is a socio-cultural anthropologist and emerita professor in Gender Studies, University of Utrecht, The Netherlands. She is the author of several books, among which "The Politics of Passion" (2006), for which she won the Ruth Benedict Prize of American Anthropological Association in 2007, and "White Innocence; Paradoxes of Colonialism and Race" (2016). In March 2022, she was awarded the Amnesty International Chair 2022 at the University of Ghent, Belgium, for her work on behalf of Human Rights. She is an activist and also writes poetry and prose.
